Dear Parents,
Welcome to Gifted and Talented in Millstone! I am so excited to reconnect with your children in September! I was new to Millstone in 2021, but not new to teaching or the world of talent development. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself, and share some key information about our program.
I graduated from Brandeis University in 2003, with a degree in English and American Literature and a minor in Elementary Education. I moved to New Jersey after graduation, and immediately began substitute teaching at the elementary schools in Monroe Township. I got my teaching certificate during that time through the Accelerated Graduate Level Teacher Certification Program at Rider University. Once I received my certification, I was lucky enough to get a teaching job in Monroe Township in 2005. During my first few years of teaching, I also earned my Master’s in Educational Psychology and Talent Development from the University of Connecticut through a distance learning/summer program. As you can see, I have a lifelong love of learning which I hope to pass on to your children.
I am beyond excited to be continuing this new chapter of my career! I have always been passionate about helping my most advanced students explore the heights of their potential. I will be working multiple days a week with small groups of identified gifted students in grades 3, 4, and 5. They will have opportunities to challenge themselves through interest-driven projects and learning experiences that go beyond the scope of their grade-level curriculum. In addition, I will be partnering with their regular classroom teachers to ensure that their needs continue to be met throughout their school day. I will also be in the primary school once a week to support some of the younger students by extending the depth and complexity of their early learning experiences.
As we begin this journey together, I hope that we can be partners in providing the best possible education for your child. I am driven by the overall well-being of my students, and will always be their advocate and ally. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. I will usually respond quickly via email ([email protected]). If there is anything I can do for you before the school year begins, please let me know.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your children.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Levinson
